Tips for the Best Strawberry Salsa Recipe

  • This strawberry and mango salsa is best consumed within 1-2 hours of preparing since the avocado will start to brown if left to sit for too long. If you aren’t planning on serving this to a larger group of people, you may wish to only make half a batch, since the taste and presentation isn’t as good the next day.
  • If you wish to do some preparation ahead of time, you can chop up the strawberries, mango and red onion and store them separately until ready to combine and serve.
  • Choose mango and avocados that are ripe but not overly mushy so that they keep their shape when diced.
  • If your strawberries are on the tart side, you may wish to add a bit of additional honey to taste.

Recipe FAQs

What is fruit salsa made of?

Although there are many wonderful fruit salsa recipes out there, they’re all a little different! You can either make a sweet salsa or a savory salsa. A savory salsa replaces the tomatoes in a regular salsa with diced fresh fruits. Think diced strawberries, mangoes, pineapples, peaches, etc. They are a little bit sweet naturally from the fruit, but they also have fresh herbs, onion, citrus juice, etc.

Sweet salsas don’t have any of those savory flavors and have more honey or sugar! All of these fresh salsas are delicious in their own way, so they’re a fun way to enjoy fresh produce!

Can I make a sweet strawberry mango salsa?

Of course! You’ll want to remove the savory elements, like the onion, avocado, and cilantro, and you can add extra honey, too. Sweet salsas taste great with cinnamon chips and can even be served on top of shortcakes for a fun twist on strawberry shortcakes!

Storage Guidelines

The avocado in this recipe does not store very well, so it’s best to enjoy this salsa right after preparing. Technically, you can store the leftovers in the fridge for a day or two, but the fruit may lose its texture and vibrant color.
