kitsap sun Sunday AprillS 2012 5A OBITUARIES Barbara Ann Ekstrom of Belfair May 28 1932 to April 102012 Barbara Ekstrom passed away at her home in Belfair on April 10 2012 at the age of 79 Barbara was born on May 28 1932 in Houston Texas to William and Nettie (Potter) BelL She attended school in San Jose and graduated from high school there Barbara was an accounts receivable clerk in the wine industry and she retired after 15 years of service She had many personal interests including teaching Sunday school ami being a volunteer for the backpack program for the North Mason Coalition of Churches Barbara is preceded in death by her husband A1 Ekstrom her parents and sister Judy Wolf Treasuring her memory are Valeria Lorene Schmidt of Silverdale June 24 1943 to April 4 2012 Valeria Lorene (Dunning) Schmidt passed away at her home in Silverdale WA Wednesday April 4 2012 after a yearlong battle with cancer She was 68 years old Val was bom on June 24 1943 in Bremerton WA to Grayce Valeria and John Henry Bays She graduated from West Bremerton High School in 1961 On May 9 1975 she married Glen Schmidt Together they raised an amazing family Val was a loving mother and was an active participant and leader in the lives of her family and friends At any given time she could be seen sharing in the energetic lives of her grandchildren at a music concert school play sporting event or whatever activity they were currently involved in She was each of her children and biggest fan For those of us that were blessed by her smile her compassion her devotion we truly knew love She worked for many years in the savings and loan industry retiring in 1993 and then taking on a more active role in WARM (Washington Adoption Reunion Movement) becoming a confidential intermediary She was honored to have a role in reuniting adoptees with their birth families Val leaves behind a leg- acy of love and is survived by her husband Glen of Silverdale WA children Nicholas Schmidt of Bremerton WA Pam (James) Lewis of Yelm WA Michael (Jessica) Schmidt of Bremerton WA Teresa (Ttacy) Gotchall of Seabeck WA and Leann Murphy of Silverdale WA She also leaves behind her grandchildren Sara Gage Andrew Jamie Misty Desiree Chelsea Bryce Amber Graycie Courtney Rue-ben Delaney Katie Kelsey Ryan Jacob and Emily In addition she is survived by eight great-grandchildren Riley Daniel Jeremiah Haiden Michael Joseph Sikazee and Skye She also leaves behind many loving friends She was preceded in death by her parents daughter-in-law Kinder Schmidt and grandson Colin Glaze-brook health care for Dr Carl Heller a rhododendron enthusiast in the years after Dr 1971 stroke After Dr death in 1983 Jim spent the rest of his working life as a landscaper for prominent local families Engineering Battalion in France After the service Richard worked at Sonoma State Hospital in mental health as a psychological'1' technician He moved to the Bremerton area 40 years ago to be near his family that lived in this area Richard is survived by his brother Russell Daugherty of Napa California and cousins Mike Daugherty of Seabeck and Bob Daugherty of Port Orchard He was preceded in death attending college Upon graduation he was commissioned second lieutenant in the US Air Force ahd served in the Azores As an architect Norm worked for Lee Richards in Tacoma designed four dormitories at WSU and was the first college architect during the design and build of the Evergreen State Community College from 1969-1973 He was a member and past president of the Association of University Danny Patrick Yorba of Olalla Jan 8 1943 to April 6 2012 Danny Patrick Yorba 69 years passed away April 6 2012 at St Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor WA Danny has been a resident of the Olalla area for almost 40 years He moved his family here from Southern California after gaining employifeenl at PSNS from which he retired inl996 Danny loved the outdoors and hopping in his truck to see what hie could see He loved working with his hands and was very artistic though he admit to it leaving beadwork leatherwork drums and flutes for his family to treasure His stories of growing up prospecting and creating mischief over the years will be missed Danny was preceded in death by his sons Santiago Yorba in 1999 Josee Yorba 2005 and his wife of 44 years Susan Joyce Fisher of Tacoma July 29 1962 to April 10 2012 Susan Joyce Carlson Fisher 49 died unexpectedly at her home in Tacoma WA on April 10 2012 She was bom -July 29 1962 in Bremerton WA to William and Mary In (Edens) Carlson She married David Fisher in 1984 Susan grew up in Port Orchard Waldron Island and Ore as Island She attended high school in Belfair and graduated from North Mason High School where she was on the tennis and basketball teams She attended' Pacific Lutheran University and received her Nursing Degree from Tacoma Community College She worked at Tacoma General Hospital in the NICU for 14 years Susan loved swimming in the ocean canal pool lake river or any body of water that would make a splash She enjoyed skiing tennis running and walking Surviving are children JohnFX Bolinger of Bremerton March 10 1931 to March 23 2012 John Bolinger 81 of Bremerton passed away on March 23 2012 He was born on March 10 1931 in Denver CO to Ray A and Madeline Carter Bolinger He graduated from South Kitsap High School and attended Olympic College He later married Mary Christey on December 31 1964 He worked at the shipyard as a journeyman painter He enlisted in the Air Force from 1950-1954 and was stationed in Spokane WA -at Fairchild AF Base and Wilma Ada Snow of Bremerton Jan 16 1929 to April 10 2012 Wilma Ada Snow of Bremerton passed away at Hospice Care Center of Kitsap County on April 10 2012 Wilma was born January 16 1929 in Culberson County Texas to James Henry Davis and Anna Sartor Davis Wilma worked for many years as a beautician and also as a playground supervisor fix Central Kitsap School District and also was a member of the PTA She enjoyed collecting frogs and crocheting Wilma enjoyed spending tune with her grandkids and friends traveling and visiting family in Texas Wilma is Beverly Jean Stillwell 80 of Port Orchard passed away April 5 2012 at St Anthony's Hospital in Gig Harbor Beverly was bom in Blackfoot Idaho on November 29 1931 to Walter and Lillian Disher Beverly worked in a number of hospitals in the Seattle area and retired from Virginia Mason Hospital working in the central services She moved to Port Or-chard 12 years ago from West Seattle and would spend six months in Port Orchard and then months at her home in San Felipe Baja Mexico where she was a member of Las Amigas She was a fan- James Alan Klassy of Bremerton Aug 29 1943 to April 1 2012 James Alan Klassy was born August 29 1943 in Chehalis Washingon and died April 1 2012 in a home fire in Bremerton WA He was proceeded in death by his father Franklin Klassy of Rutland SD his mother Ulanda
